BIDILAND – Paths do Bibliodiversity

The project Landscapes of Bibliodiversity promotes and contextualizes ten high quality European literary works for young and adult readers of minority and/or less known literatures, most of them written in lesser-used languages. Leading authors from the Basque Country, Slovakia, Holland and Romania will be translated into Slovenian and Slovenian authors into Spanish and Basque by renowned translators.

The project ponders the bibliodiversity of European literature and promotes it in Europe and beyond, especially among Spanish-speaking Latin American countries. Dissemination activities of translated works in three languages of the project are based on research on reading literacy and empirical researches of literature and digital humanities. Communication activities combine different tools to promote the landscape of translated books: meticulous editing of award-winning works from a wide range of literatures written in lesser-used and minority languages, e-books, web pages, events with authors and translators, artistic performances and didactic material for reading motivation and art workshops for children that will prevail also after the end of the project. The project’s results are the product of collaboration between publishing houses and associations. This collaboration has been created to share knowledge and reach new audiences and will help the consortium members to grow on a group and on an individual level. All activities of the project will be promoted through press releases, newsletters, announcements, social media, bloggers, etc.

The designers of the project Landscapes of Bibliodiversity firmly believe that that raising awareness of the diversity of all types of reading (literary, visual, auditory, gender, ecological, social) can enrich us both individually as well as socially and they see this project as a great opportunity to give others the possibility to get to know this diversity.
